There is something powerful about making a spoon with your own hands and then using it to cook/eat. I once (about 10 years ago) did a bigger spoon at school and I'm still using it! :) I should make one more more myself...Saaarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10863201215906149502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5318585149114723707.post-74432349008232223932013-03-09T17:44:13.828-09:002013-03-09T17:44:13.828-09:00Well, that's up to the students - I think most...Well, that's up to the students - I think most use them. For some, the struggle is to complete a spoon; others have more aesthetic goals. One of my major goals as the woodworking teacher is to develop the Will of the children. They'll come up with a spoon in a very rough state and say "It's finished!" To which I usually respond "No. You might be, but it is not. Keep sanding."<br /><br />How long did it take? Well, it varies. These spoons usually take between 4-6 weeks of twice a week classes (45 minutes each). But that is only a rough estimate as some classes are missed due to absences or holidays etc. Plus, it is a rare class that gets the full 45 minutes to work. And of course, the complexity of the design and the level of craftsmanship play major factors as well.<br />Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03176548997819533683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5318585149114723707.post-57973503606922157502013-03-09T07:42:32.142-09:002013-03-09T07:42:32.142-09:00These spoons are beautiful, do you use them or jus...These spoons are beautiful, do you use them or just hang and display them.
