I've had a few of my students' pencil boxes fail at the joint after an impact. This box has more surface area for glue, but is also big enough to screw, so I did both, as I am sure it will have a hard life.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03176548997819533683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5318585149114723707.post-39428069199417036912012-04-26T06:32:16.746-08:002012-04-26T06:32:16.746-08:00Thanks Scott - and I agree, when you make somethin...Thanks Scott - and I agree, when you make something again and again, you become more aware of the work flow, but also more in tune with the whole process. I notice that I much more regularly avoid mistakes, not because I "fix" my technique, but because I am more effective at "listening" to the wood and tools etc. I don't know if that makes sense...Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03176548997819533683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5318585149114723707.post-61972971391488793462012-04-26T06:26:35.245-08:002012-04-26T06:26:35.245-08:00Thanks Steve.

What are your work holding options? Etc.

In some ways, since it is bigger, it is a little more forgiving than the pencil box. I think you might also want to consider making wooden spoons.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03176548997819533683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5318585149114723707.post-60785061753053380312012-04-25T18:55:18.368-08:002012-04-25T18:55:18.368-08:00you're my heroyou're my heroChristinaFromDallashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16982058719270464901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5318585149114723707.post-43922456670685130522012-04-23T15:29:39.943-08:002012-04-23T15:29:39.943-08:00I like the doweled joints. I made them previously with a router table, so this has been an interesting and fun contrast. And doing several one after the other has been enlightening in a way that making one-offs cannot. I've been meaning to take pictures and post something to Lumberjocks, but I suspect it would be a largely inferior reprise of your blog posting.Scott Turnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03393071448515738228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5318585149114723707.post-70555985029074868762012-04-23T06:37:48.663-08:002012-04-23T06:37:48.663-08:00Dan,

I have just been told I will be teaching Crafts next year and I am looking for projects. We have no woodshop, so I was leaning that direction. It's also my strength, if there is one, in this class.

SteveStevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14202410717147326787noreply@blogger.com
